Chalmers Industriteknik receives SSF funding to lead an EU application
Chalmers Industriteknik has been granted funding from the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF) to lead an international application to Horizon Europe’s call “CCU for the production of fuels”.
The EU project will develop innovative energy- and resource-efficient processes for the production of sustainable aviation fuels from intermittent energy sources and recycled carbon. It addresses the pressing need for sustainable alternatives to fossil fuels in the difficult to electrify aviation sector and aligns with national and EU policies on energy transition, enhancing energy system sustainability and flexibility.
“Together with industry partners, clusters, and trade associations, we will drive technological advancements on sustainable aviation fuel production and will explore industrial symbiosis opportunities for energy and resource efficiency, also striving to increase awareness and societal impact”, said Dr Kerstin Jedvert who will lead this project. “We welcome relevant stakeholders, particularly industries, SMEs and relevant EU projects to connect with us in this groundbreaking effort”, urged Dr Nikolaos Xafenias from the coordinating team. “Together, we can pave the way for a sustainable future for aviation”.
