Orvar Hurtig appointed new CEO of Chalmers Industriteknik

Orvar Hurtig has been appointed the new CEO of Chalmers Industriteknik. He joins from his most recent role as CEO of Consat Digital Solutions and has also served as a member of the Chalmers Industriteknik Board of Directors.

“We are very pleased that Orvar Hurtig is taking on the role of CEO,” says Staffan Landén, Chair of the Board of Chalmers Industriteknik. “He knows the organisation well from his years as a board member and has the experience and profile that will be highly valuable to us.”

Orvar Hurtig has a background as a technically minded army officer. Following his military career, he spent 23 years within the Ericsson Group, including as Head of Ericsson’s global service organisation. His CV also includes Toyota, where he worked with systems for autonomous forklifts, as well as Consat Engineering and Consat Digital Solutions, where he most recently served as CEO.

“What has been a consistent thread throughout my career, and what I want to contribute to Chalmers Industriteknik, is the ability to build and develop businesses. I am good at understanding the landscape in which I operate, bringing people with me and enabling others to succeed,” says Orvar Hurtig.

According to Staffan Landén, one of the new CEO’s most important tasks will be to further develop Chalmers Industriteknik’s role as an integrated part of Chalmers.

“We need to place greater emphasis on integration, collaboration and a shared strategic direction together with the companies within the Chalmers Group,” he says. “Chalmers Industriteknik will have a clearer role in commercially translating academic knowledge and technological solutions into value for society.”

Orvar Hurtig took up his position as CEO of Chalmers Industriteknik today, 1 September.
