Health Data Innovation Platform (HDIP)

Applied AI
Data-driven innovation
HDIP develops guidelines for secure and responsible secondary use of health data in research and innovation. The project focuses on defining legal structures and operational processes, including a metadata catalogue, to enable data-driven healthcare innovation.

HDIP is defined by the HDIP Business Operating Model (BOM) which will streamline the end-to-end data lifecycle, from data acquisition to data delivery, to make data more accessible, reliable, and valuable for decision-making and innovation. The BOM will ensure that health data is safe, secure and in compliance with Swedish law and EU policy regulations.

A central component is the metadata catalogue, which will serve as a gateway for both data providers and data users. It helps identify and access relevant datasets to accelerate research and innovation. The catalogue is intended to be used by the healthcare sector, industry actors, and academia. The goal is to make it easier to find, request, and share data in a secure and transparent way.

The project is coordinated by Chalmers Industriteknik and carried out in collaboration with the following partners: AI Sweden, AstraZeneca, Chalmers University of Technology, RISE, University of Gothenburg, Vectura, Västra Götalandsregionen.

The project is funded by Vinnova.
