We are looking for: Business developer for graphene and graphene applications

Chalmers Industriteknik is a foundation founded by Chalmers University of Technology with about SEK 110 million in annual sales and about 100 employees, most of whom have postgraduate education. We offer academic expertise in the areas of energy, materials, digitalization, design and circular economics.

Do you want to support companies in Sweden and Europe in taking the graphene, the most exciting material today, from the lab to the industry?

Graphene is an only 15 years old material with an enormous potentials to develop areas such as electronics, energy, surfaces, composite and biotechnology.

The Swedish and European graphene industry is growing rapidly, and Chalmers Industriteknik plays an important role in this. We lead the strategic innovation program SIO Grafen in Sweden, we are responsible for the Innovation work package within the EU program Graphene Flagship, and we manage exciting research and innovation projects within the field of graphene.

Now we need a new colleague with a focus on developing business and industrializing graphene.

Work description
You will work with two main tasks, as Business Developer for Electronics for the Graphene Flagship, and with technology transfer within the program office for SIO Grafen.

Business Development Electronics for Graphene Flagship:

With a budget of €1 billion, the Graphene Flagship is Europe’s biggest ever research initiative. The core consortium consists of over 150 academic and industrial research groups in 23 countries.

Innovation is a key task for Graphene Flagship, therefore a network of 8 business developers across Europe has been established with the goal to accelerate the commercialization of graphene. This position will have the focus on electronics.

The business developer is the bridge between research within the Flagship and the industry that uses the results. You will:

  • Support, commercially package and promote promising research results created by the partners in the Graphene Flagship.
  • Engage industry players to start working with graphene and to initiate research collaboration with Graphene Flagship partners on specific projects.
  • Be the key person with a business understanding and contacts within the electronic business domain.

Your work will be done in close cooperation with the other business developers and researchers in the field. You report directly to the Head of Innovation within Graphene Flagship.

Since Graphene Flagship is an international collaboration, you will travel about 10 times a year in Europe.

The program office of the SIO Grafen

SIO Grafen is a strategic innovation program with the ambition to strengthen cross-border collaboration between research suppliers and companies in the graphene area and thus establish Sweden as one of the leading countries in deploying graphene to ensure industrial leadership. SIO Grafen is supported by Vinnova, Formas and the Swedish Energy Agency.

The program office works with developing the strategic agenda for SIO Grafen, supporting the innovation projects, business intelligence, arranging workshops and developing calls for new projects.

You will be part of a team that works to support ongoing projects within SIO Grafen and develops collaborations with other programs and organizations, in and outside of Sweden.

Your profile
You have extensive experience in business development, product development or have previously had a customer-related role within a company connected to graphene or electronics.

The job demands a broad understanding of market sectors, value chains, customer groups and technology suppliers. We also highly value international experience, good communication skills in both English and Swedish and the ability to handle several different projects simultaneously.

Requirements:

  • An PhD in materials engineering, electronics or related fields. Competence in graphene or nanomaterials is a bonus
  • A broad understanding of market requirements and needs
  • Experience working with technology transfer, business development especially for new materials or electronics
  • Good communication skills in English and Swedish
