Deeptech
The continued development of new products and the transition to a sustainable society requires new technologies and materials. For these to be widely established in industry, standards are needed. At Chalmers Industriteknik, we therefore focus on innovations and take an active role in standardisation.

We are building the future with deep tech.
Deep tech is based on in-depth research and innovation and aims to solve society’s biggest challenges – rather than just offering incremental improvements. It requires time, capital and expertise, and when innovations have an impact, they can be transformative. Examples of deeptech areas are: artificial intelligence, quantum technology, biotechnology, robotics, advanced materials, space technology, and energy and semiconductor technology.
Chalmers Industrial Engineering runs development projects, strengthens ecosystems and coordinates international collaborations in deeptech. We strengthen Sweden’s competitiveness by giving startups, SMEs and large companies access to expertise, networks and technology.
Examples of initiatives we are involved in (read more under the heading Centres & Infrastructures):
SIO Graphene – strengthening value chains in graphene.
Graphene Flagship – one of Europe’s largest research programmes in graphene.
Quantum Sweden Innovation Platform (QSIP) – coordinates Swedish quantum technology innovation and internationalisation.
6G Hub Sweden – brings together actors in next generation communications.
Swedish Chips Competence Centre (SCCC) – strengthens Swedish semiconductor expertise and cooperation in chip technology.
