Graphene enhanced conductive cementitious coating

Graphene & other 2D materials

Steel reinforced concrete is an important construction material often exposed in harsh environments, which leads to corrosion damage. Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP) is a well-known repair method. However, this method has its own challenges. These are often related to the anode.

– We try to overcome these challenges by using graphene, where one aspect is to improve the conductivity of the anode coating. Our next step is to characterise the defects in the material after its service life and study the effect at a larger scale of the project, says Luping Tang from Chalmers who is working together with Chalmers Industriteknik, GVV, Lanark, SIKA and Talga in the project.
