Cirkulär Live

The events and live entertainment industry needs to transform to become more sustainable. Through the project Cirkulär Live, Chalmers Industriteknik, All Things Live, and Rejlers are now initiating a research, development, and communication project where sustainable and research-driven solutions are developed, tested, evaluated, and tested again — with the goal of implementation and dissemination within the industry.
The aim of Cirkulär Live is to accelerate the transformation of the events and live entertainment industry to achieve greater sustainability while meeting economic requirements and ensuring visitors have a fantastic experience. The project also involves artists, who have an important voice in this transformation not least in promoting engagement and behavior changes among visitors, fans, and the general public. Within the project, solutions are tested in key areas such as energy, transport, food and textiles/printed materials. The goal is to carry out a Sweden-based tour by 2027 that sets a new benchmark for sustainable events. This will be achieved by applying and scaling up the evidence-based solutions tested during the project and that have shown great potential. The results and lessons learned from the project will not only support the industry’s transformation but also contribute to the development of research in relevant areas.
Klas Hedvall and Marie Palmnäs are Chalmers Industritekniks initiators of Cirkulär Live, leading the work in the areas of transport and food & beverage, respectively. Both are part of the project’s steering group.
The project starts in 2024 with a feasibility study and will continue until 2027. Partners include All Things Live, Service Research Center at Karlstad University and Rejlers AB. The feasibility study is funded by Rejlers AB.
