Ceramics and Advanced Materials have unique properties and can be used in many high-performance applications, e.g., within automotive industry, energy and electronics.
Better performance, durability, and cost-effectiveness
Ceramic materials have several important properties such as high strength, hardness and thermal stability. By developing new ceramic materials, it is possible to improve both performance, durability and cost-effectiveness within a range of different products and technologies.
There are several ways to develop new ceramic materials, e.g., through compositional design, where different types of ceramic compounds are selected and combined to achieve specific properties. Different types of processing and shaping techniques, as well as the addition of additives are also possible. Bioceramics, where ceramic materials are developed using biomaterials, is an important area and the materials can, e.g., be used for medical implants.
We have extensive experience in working with silica-based material, for example in coating technologies for non-stick properties in fryinFOug pans and protective coatings for metals. We also have knowledge in nanotechnology. By manipulating ceramic material at nanoscale, it is possible to create new materials with unique properties, such as high strength and toughness.
